DB2 Performance Expert for Multiplatforms (DB2 PE) is a general purpose DB2 performance monitoring and analysis framework. It is flexible enough to be applied in all types of DB2 environments. The focus of this paper is on how to leverage DB2 PE in DB2 Business Intelligence environments. DB2 PE is based on a three-tier monitoring architecture. Tier 1 is the monitored DB2 system. Tier 2 is the DB2 PE server that remotely monitors tier 1. It also enables all the advanced features like performance history capturing, performance warehousing, and exception processing. Tier 3 is the DB2 PE client that connects to the DB2 PE server and is used to perform all monitoring tasks.
