A computer system is only as secure as its weakest component. Creating a secure system involves looking at all areas of vulnerability and creating solutions to address each of those areas. Security solutions installed at the Operating System (OS) level can provide a high level of protection against unauthorized access. In order to truly address each of these points of vulnerability, security has to also be built into not only the operating system, but also the hardware and firmware. This is often referred to as embedded security. This paper explores the embedded security features built into HP Compaq business notebooks.
