Banco Santander Central Hispano is one of the 10 largest banks in the world. With its Miami data center located in the path of hurricanes, the bank requires a reliable disaster recovery plan. Replacing an inefficient and risky process using archive tapes and air couriers, an integrated solution based on VERITAS Volume Replicator and Juniper Networks WX and WXC application acceleration platforms replicates data from the Miami data center to a secondary disaster recovery site in New York City. In addition to a robust, reliable business continuity plan, the bank reduced hardware and network costs by more than $100,000 annually while cutting the time for WAN maintenance by 95 percent.
