A commercial bank was required to implement offsite replication of its data in order to comply with FSA and SEC regulations. The volumes of data that the bank is processing are growing exponentially, and the number of servers to manage and store this data is growing to match. Implementing the required offsite disaster recovery strategy could have been extremely expensive. The bank implemented a virtualisation software solution to enable it to manage multiple storage volumes across its SAN. This enabled it to consolidate its EMC array with a low-cost 2Gb Fibre Channeldisk array solution, and to use an array for the offsite replication of data for disaster recovery.
