United States critical infrastructure and cyber space security protections - with Internet communications clearly playing a key role in both cases - intermingled and flared up in the first week of July, 2006 as increasingly debated policy issues that the federal government, business enterprises and industrialists must try to resolve. Congressional, law-enforcement, intelligence and e-commerce transaction companies have expressed a growing concern over the high vulnerability of information via online transactions as well as through hacking into Internet databases. Instances involving the theft of information regarding U.S. veterans and active military personnel also underscore and highlight such threats.
