An organisation's network is increasingly being treated by users as just another utility service, which means it must be continuously available and high-performing. Achieving this level of performance, however, often requires a massive upgrade of the network infrastructure. Ordnance Survey's investment in its network became a priority when its legacy infrastructure began to struggle with the growing level of traffic created by large digital mapping files. To overcome these problems, Ordnance Survey embarked on an upgrade of its core network infrastructure, and - after a competitive tender exercise - called in Computacenter to help with the design and implementation of the new architecture.
