Snowy River Shire Council, located in a mountainous area midway between Sydney and Melbourne, had an ageing information technology infrastructure, unreliable power supplies and an increasing demand from ratepayers for electronically delivered services. The Council deployed leading edge infrastructure based on end-to-end IBM hardware and consultation, Technology One business applications - Financials, HR/Payroll, Rating and Property Management and Work and Asset Management, high-speed fibreoptic connectivity from Telstra and deployment services from IBM/Corporate Express. Snowy River Shire Council has leveraged the benefits of implementing a high reliability technology infrastructure, including a Disaster Recovery centre, to create potential for earning revenue by on-selling access to these facilities.
