Jersey Financial Services Commission is responsible for the supervision of the financial services businesses on the British island of Jersey. In 2003, the deputy director - head of Information Communications and Technology, identified shortcomings in Jersey Financial Service's disaster recovery methods, which relied on traditional back-up tapes and decided to upgrade the IT infrastructure. Following close consultation with Ji Consultancy, a VMware Authorized Consulting (VAC) Partner and VMware Enterprise VIP, Jersey Financial Services began implementing a virtual infrastructure that would meet its needs. VMware ESX Server enabled Jersey Financial Services to consolidate 12 servers onto an 8-way IBM Intel server at both its live site and its disaster recovery site.
