This white paper provides an overview of some of the security issues surrounding the use of XML within a Web Services environment. It specifically discusses the issues that must be considered when designing a Web Service or providing XML support to existing applications. It explains why, although the XML specification provides for the security of XML messages, this should not be relied upon for organisations seeking to introduce a totally secure, XML-based application environment.
