EMT - formerly Estonia Mobile Telephone is the leading provider of GSM telephony services in Estonia. Faced with competition from foreign-backed companies, EMT realised that it had to find innovative ways of building customer loyalty if it were to retain its market share. Through a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service, EMT was able to offer a reduction in calling rates to key corporate customers, but without undermining its revenue stream with a global price cut. This solution was also very inflexible, with service changes having to be done manually and the development of new services being dependent on the switch vendor. EMT identified the HP Opencall Intelligent Network (IN) service platform as an open, flexible, future-proof alternative.
