In July 2006, Symantec Corporation merged with VERITAS Software, making it the world leader in providing solutions to help customers assure the security, availability, and integrity of their information. The company used the merger as a catalyst to rethink its CRM strategy and create a common CRM platform for the combined sales organization. Symantec selected Salesforce for the scalability and agility enabled by the Salesforce on-demand architecture. The IT department led the technical evaluation, while sales representatives selected Salesforce for its superior productivity in head-to-head comparisons with other vendors. The company deployed Salesforce to 3,900 employees worldwide in less than four months and simultaneously assimilated the VERITAS operations.
