A national distributor of imported hardware components needed a way to link customers, suppliers, and salespeople to current inventory, pricing, and specification data that were stored on their AS400 JD Edwards system. This distributor faced the problem of a global sales force that is struggling to keep a current record of marketing images, specifications, and current pricing across multiple brands. The distributor had a clear vision of a single point of entry for salespeople and manufacturers that would be easy to navigate and required no training. Eastridge recommended a web based solution using Active Server Pages coupled with XML (Extensible Markup Language) and Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
