Aligning IT with business goals has been complicated in the past by a lack of visualization and asset management tools for managing the availability and performance of IT to better support business priorities. Recently, however, visualization technologies and tools have matured to become easier to use and more capable of handling the complexity and dynamism of today's IT infrastructures. One firm, netViz LLC, recently acquired by Computer Associates and based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, uses "Data-driven graphics" to provide a consolidated, visual representation of IT resources, corporate assets, and business process information across corporate computing environments - allowing companies to understand the relationships between business applications and the IT infrastructure.
