In all the preceding high availability deployments, a hardware load balancer distributes the incoming Oracle Internet Directory (OID) and Directory Integration & Provisioning (DIP), the Single Sign On (SSO) and Delegated Administrative Service (DAS), and Oracle Collaboration Suite Applications service requests across the simultaneously active instances. Failure of any one of the instances causes the load balancer to direct the subsequent requests to the remaining active instances. In addition, it's recommended that the F5 BIG-IP Application Traffic Manager be deployed redundantly for a more robust HA implementation. This paper describes the configuration and operational best practices for using F5 BIG-IP as the load balancer with an Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g HA Distributed Identity Management deployment.
