Brigham Young University (BYU) is located in Provo, Utah, and serves 30,000 full-time students with 11 colleges and 1,600 full-time faculty. BYU needed a time and cost-efficient way to reconfigure large lecture classes so that they were more engaging, relevant and personal. The university implemented a strategy that has focused on improving the efficiency of creating reusable, modular online learning content. The goal was to make the learning experiences more flexible and more effective for all learners regardless of their physical location. Despite budget constraints and burgeoning workloads at BYU, productivity in creating online courses jumped. Templates created with Dreamweaver and Flash enable developers to publish web and print versions of the course simultaneously.
