The first Appleton public school began in 1850 with the confidence that education would shape the future independence and prosperity of the entire country. The Appleton Area School District needed to upgrade its e-mail service to provide a more user-friendly experience and to improve performance and control. The district also required enhanced document backup, storage, and retrieval capabilities to accommodate anticipated governmental regulations. In 2004, Appleton Area School District implemented Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access on an HP ProLiant server platform to improve e-mail services, access, and collaboration among its 2000 faculty and staff at 27 schools and sites across the district.
