Newport News Shipbuilding, Inc. (NNS), with 17,000 employees and headquarters in Newport News, Virginia, makes heavy use of its technology. They design, build, and maintain nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines, the most sophisticated ships in the world. For NNS, choosing SAP as its ERP software was a major decision. Implementation was just the first hurdle. The real challenge was how to train the employees (which included production workers, planners, and engineers) who would interface with the program daily.
