The company provides Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software for high technology customers in a variety of industries including telecommunications, computer hardware, semiconductor and automotive. Developing such complex software requires a high performance, stable operating platform. Mentor Graphics added Linux to its development environment to respond to request from customers who were moving their own development environments to Linux. Mentor Graphics worked with Novell to implement SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server for more than 1,600 engineers in 30 engineering sites across the world.
