Brasil Telecom is truly a technological mosaic. The enterprise includes nearly 12,000 workstations, four call centers in different parts of the country, hundreds of servers and mainframes, and an archiving system containing 170 terabytes of data. To control this diverse environment, the company needed a global directory to consolidate user information across a variety of operating systems. After evaluating a number of directory solutions, the company selected Novell eDirectory telecommunications industry based on its multi-platform support. The company also selected Novell Identity Manager and Novell iChain to complete its identity and access management solution. Brasil Telecom's digital identity project has reduced its help desk calls by nearly 10 percent.
