Hill Air Force Base (Hill AFB) is an Air Force Materiel Command base located in northern Utah. Hill AFB's need for an anti-spyware solution to protect their large network was twofold. First, users were receiving excess popup ads and other spyware-related symptoms that were degrading systems and causing sluggish performance. Second, there was a security push from the government due to the Global War on Terrorism. After extensive product testing and research, Hill AFB found eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware from Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) (formerly PestPatrol from PestPatrol, Inc.) to be the only product available at the time of their search that had plans for a centralized management console with the ability to run a scan at an enterprise level in order to handle their large and diverse network.
