Wyeth is a global leader in prescription pharmaceutical non-prescription consumer healthcare products and pharmaceuticals for animal health. Wyeth needed to identify a stable, scalable, and flexible architecture to facilitate innovation and meet the computational needs of scientific research, increase performance and productivity, and decrease operating costs. Wyeth embarked on a swift two-month initiative that involved creating a request for proposal (RFP) based on the desired hardware, software and services characteristic and circulating it to a number of different vendors. Wyeth chose HP as the solution provider. The selected cluster configuration consisted of multiple HP ProLiant BL20 Intel-based dual-processor server blades and several Proliant 380 servers for administrative, management, and logging tasks.
