Located in Midland, Texas, Midland Memorial Hospital opened its doors to the local community in July of 1950 as the County's only not-for-profit hospital. The hospital seized the opportunity to completely re-evaluate all aspects of its IT infrastructure and found a major infrastructure overhaul was required in order to eliminate manageability issues, extensive service costs, and loss of productivity. In addition to completely replacing the legacy systems, it was decided to implement a comprehensive electronic health record system to increase efficiency and reduce the potential for errors. OpenVista's use of the Linux operating system and an associated desire to use Linux-based hardware helped to decide to remain standardized on an HP platform.
