As the central IT Service Provider for the civil service in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany's most populous state, the Landesamt fur Datenverarbeitung und Statistik (LDS - State Data Processing and Statistical Office) continues to scale up the remote management of networks, servers and applications. In 1997, an IT team from the LDS Network and Systems Management Division in Duesseldorf started to devise a monitoring solution for the networks operated by LDS in Germany's most populous state. The management concept presented by HP Consulting for the networks and servers was fully supported by and mapped in HP OpenView. Providing best practices, the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) methodologies utilized by HP OpenView have been instrumental to the high service management efficiency achieved by LDS.
