TruClusters and Serviceguard are the clustering products for HP's two respective UNIX operating systems - Tru64 UNIX and HP-UX 11i. Both have similar capabilities but different approaches to providing highly available environments for applications. HP is planning to enhance Serviceguard in HP-UX 11i v2 by integrating it with Symantec's VERITAS Cluster File System in Q4CY2005. This paper will review the products, outline key differences (cluster alias, cluster file system, shared root) and assist your planning process in transitioning from Tru64 UNIX/TruClusters to HP-UX 11i/Serviceguard.
