Lentopelastus is a voluntary Finnish body involved in search-and-rescue operations. To speed up search-and-rescue operations, Lentopelastus needed to be able to communicate more effectively with the emergency services. Most importantly, it wanted to be able to transmit precise map coordinates quickly to the police or fire service. This required a technology solution that combined GPS functionality with electronic maps compatible with those used by the other parties involved in search-and-rescue. Lentopelastus identified HP partner DataInfo as the only company capable of providing a solution that met its requirements. DataInfo provided a complete package of hardware, software, training and support based on HP iPAQ Pocket PCs.
