Cable & Wireless has created a broadband network enabling 11 local authorities in the East of England to bring the National Grid for Learning to their schools. The network blended the cost advantages of the internet with the service guarantees of a dedicated infrastructure. Cable & Wireless helped out on the business side, through a framework agreement. Cable & Wireless also provided flexible financing to see the project through its early stages. Now local schools in the region are benefiting from a range of services such as high-speed internet access and secure data transfer.
