This white paper will show how RFID can make a significant contribution to the improved performance of the management of reusable assets in the supply chain. The paper will start with a brief introduction to developments in the field of supply chain management, and to how RFID can support these. The paper will then discuss the current picture regarding RFID, including how to differentiate reality from the hype, what the current views of European supply chain managers are regarding the technology, and what benefits they think will come from its adoption. The case for using RFID to track reusable assets will then be presented, including the challenges organizations and their customers and suppliers will face when adopting it.
