This paper proposes a MAC protocol which improves disadvantages of the IEEE 802.11 DCF standard, like the blocking problem, scheduling concurrent transmissions (the hidden and exposed problem). The protocol also achieves better spatial reuse of the spectrum thanks to the power control taking into consideration the number of neighbors in the one-hop neighborhood and the history of power changes. Through many simulations, it shows that the algorithm outperforms the IEEE 802.11 standard both in the static and dynamic network and also in high interference environments.
