The Identity Management (IdM) market is a fast-growing market focused on some of today's most pressing IT issues: digital identity, privacy, security, authorization, and account management. The urgency of identity technologies is not lost on the world's largest software vendors, most of whom now have IdM strategies and products in place. Although traditional IdM vendors, such as Novell and Sun, were already moving toward the complete IdM suite model, IBM's aggressive moves in the IdM market had enormous effect, influencing competitors to attempt similar strategies.
