H.D.Smith is a privately-held, full-service wholesale distributor that offers a complete line of branded and generic pharmaceuticals. In a continuing effort to improve product safety, inventory efficiencies and supply chain integrity, H.D. Smith wanted to leverage RFID technology to track Schedule II drugs across their distribution channels. To transform its paper-based record-keeping process, the company wanted to implement RFID technology to achieve detailed electronic pedigree for each drug container as it makes its way through the pharmaceutical supply chain. GlobeRanger's OEM partner, Franwell, developed RFID/barcode receiving and shipping applications on the iMotion platform and successfully deployed the project.
