This real-time report shows the trend analysis for top IT priorities including hardware upgrades, software infrastructure, wired vs. wireless, IT management, web technology, OS migration, security, data management and application development and integration. The results show what's hot now, what's moved up or down and what's important over the next year.

CNET Network's IT Priorities Research Program surveys IT decision makers in medium and large organizations each month and asks them about their IT priorities. The program launched in October 2002 and has been collecting data continuously since that time. The study is designed to provide a near-real-time snapshot of business technology project priorities over two timeframes: Now and 12 months from now.

We take a look at what IT decision makers tell us they are interested in and compare it to the kind of content they are consuming online. We select a representative sample of 300-500 IT managers who work in US organizations of more than 500 employees and ask them two open-ended questions:

  • "Currently, what information technology project or implementation has the most resources dedicated to it?"
  • "What is the most important technology initiative your IT organization plans to implement over the next 12 months?"
For expert analysis of the latest shifts in IT priorities, visit Chris Jablonski's monthly report on TechRepublic.com.
