In the case of researchers at the University of South Carolina and with the United States Army's Signal Corp, the problem of ensuring continuous availability of the wireless infrastructure while maintaining high mobility was very important. They needed to create a network infrastructure that had the capability to monitor its own dynamic behaviour, on a node-by-node basis, using information obtained from the network itself as to how incremental changes in node-level behaviour affected the behaviour of the network as a whole. The Wireless Adaptive Systems Lab at USC decided to use Exsedia's Nimbus toolset because of its support of the highly intuitive ASM methodology a familiar approach due to its common use in digital logic textbooks and its formal theoretical soundness.
