AppCrash is a tool for the automatic collection of diagnostic and debugging information when any application crashes under a Solaris system. The tool does not require any changes to the applications or to the operating system and is based on DTrace (Dynamic Tracing), a new facility introduced in the Solaris 10 OS. AppCrash can help significantly reduce the cost of software defects by shortening the time needed to gather data necessary for application's customer support, quality assurance (QA), and development staff, as well as for Sun technical support engineers.
