Bankers Automated Clearing Services (BACS), the clearinghouse that enables electronic payments for the entirety of the UK, chose SunPlex systems and the Oracle9i Real Application Clusters (RAC) Database as the basis for its New BACS technology renewal program. These systems have the capacity, scalability and performance to comfortably manage BACS' projected volume of five billion transactions per year by 2005. Due to the high levels of integration between Sun and Oracle, BACS deployed the solution expeditiously and has already entered production with the first stage of New BACS, which for the first time provides an Internet option for many of the firm's services.
