Sun Case Study: Advanced Airport Systems Technology Research Consortium

In Japan, major players in aviation, including the NARITA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CORPORATION, Japan Airlines (JAL), and All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd(ANA), came together to found ASTREC, the Advanced Airport Systems Technology Research Consortium, which studies the implementation of RFID and other technologies for aviation. Sun has taken part in an ongoing ASTREC program at Narita Airport, both in system integration and more than nine months of operations, that uses RFID tags on baggage. This case study on ASTREC is representative of the level of support provided by Sun's RFID solutions.
