Ranbaxy Laboratories is India's largest pharmaceutical company and is rated as one of the leading research-based international pharmaceutical organizations in the world. As a part of the procurement function of materials management, Ranbaxy has implemented a workflow-based purchase-order-approval process, for procurement of goods from vendors. While the SAP R/3 materials management implementation met most business needs, the system had two major limitations, long lag time between the creation of purchase order and its release, and non-SAP users and remote users could not view and release purchase orders. To address these limitations, MindTree worked with Ranbaxy to create a three-part solution.
