A major Japanese automobile manufacturer with global operations developed an internal portal with numerous collaboration tools built into common architecture. The intent was for worldwide collaboration on the development of new products and services, and information sharing. Given the highly competitive nature of their industry and the sensitivity of R&D and design information to be shared in the system, they were concerned over the risk to their intellectual property. Using Hill & Associates' distinct Information Assurance methodology, H&A reviewed the underlying network architecture, data center provision and connection to pre-existing company networks, then analyzed the technologies selected for several collaboration environments.
