Cyberonics, Inc., designs and markets medical devices used to treat epilepsy and other debilitating neurological disorders. Cyberonics has been successful in marketing its NeuroCybernetic Prosthesis (NCP) System for regulating epilepsy, but sought a way to reduce the system's reliance on relatively expensive laptops for programming the NCP-based devices implanted in patients. Working with ESX Engineering, a Microsoft Solution Provider, Cyberonics developed a Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC-based system that dramatically reduces the cost and complexity of administering the NCP System.
