In 1998 the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, composed by IBM, Intel, Ericsson, Nokia and Toshiba, developed a new technology: a universal and ubiquitous connectivity solution between a range of very different communities devices, computing and communicating with each other. They called it BLUETOOTH. Among the large group of small communicating devices (mobile phones, laptops, PDA, etc.), Bluetooth devices can be differentiated because of a new communication paradigm: Ad Hoc Networking. Bluetooth technology, beyond defining a standard for short-distance wireless communication, provides a mechanism to form small private ad hoc groups, by connecting these devices away from fixed networks.
