A smart antenna can dramatically improve the signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR). Due to the enhanced immunity to multipath fading, reduction of co-channel interference (CCI), smart antennas give the possibility to con?gure the coverage of each GSM/GPRS base station (BS) to match the cell speci?c propagation conditions. The paper presents the RF electronics of a 16 element T shape adaptive antenna for GSM/GPRS base stations.
