All eyes are on WiMAX to deliver the future of wireless broadband, but in some markets, it's already happening. In the Asia-Pacific region, it's happening with a vengeance in Australia, which has become a sort of microcosmic test bed to study how wireless broadband, 3G and fixed-line DSL will compete and co-exist in the same market. Two wireless broadband start-ups - Unwired and Personal Broadband Australia (PBA) - are offering commercial services, and customers are signing up by the thousands.
