GSM/GPRS/EDGE is the next step in high-speed wireless communication. This wireless network allows interconnection of devices using Internet Protocol (IP) via Packet Switched Data methodology. With this method, phones or modems can be 'always connected'. There is no longer a need to dial up an ISP since the Rogers Wireless GPRS/EDGE network is acting as a wireless Internet connection (or as an extension of a corporate LAN). Rogers provides an IP address for phones and/or modems and allows access to the Internet or any data on an IP network; whether private or public.
