GSM networks have transformed the way people communicate with each other. But it's not just people doing the talking: machines are also getting connected. The advance of technology into all areas of the personal and professional lives has brought with it a plethora of jargon, which sometimes confuses more than it illuminates. One of the buzzwords floating around today is M2M, which stands for 'machine to machine'. But what does this mean in practice? 'M2M' can be used to refer to any communication between two machines, thus incorporating systems such as synchronized traffic lights.
