KCA DEUTAG Drilling GmbH (www.kcadeutag.com) is one of the largest international land drilling contractors outside the Americas, and a world leader in engineering, rig design, construction and operation. The company faced the challenge of supporting 100% increase in user numbers for SAP solutions, increasing performance of batch and interactive SAP processes and creating stable and reliable environment for the future. The solution was to consolidate SAP software from 4 Fujitsu-Siemens servers to 2 IBM eserver p5 550 systems with POWER5 processors and create SAN around an IBM TotalStorage DS4300, implement IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.3 for automated backup and restore of data.
