This paper proposes a Simple Neighbour Discovery (SND) procedure for Bluetooth, which is well suited to systems where peer nodes are communicating. SND is a flexible mechanism that can be performed with low overhead during data transmissions. The nodes performing the SND procedure have a lot of freedom in deciding when they do and how much time they spend with the neighbour discovery. Consequently this procedure can be carried out during data transmission in a time multiplex fashion, taking the data traffic into account.
