The primary objective of this paper is to show how cellular service providers can benefit from Wi-Fi, by integrating it to their existing GSM/GPRS systems. The hotspots deployment is growing at a rapid pace, despite the absence of a good business model. Integration provides an excellent opportunity to enhance their GPRS/EDGE data service. By integrating both networks, operators are able to provide 3Glike services and thereby reduce churn which is currently a major problem for the wireless industry.
