New Zealand Exchange Limited (NZX) is the sole share-market operator in New Zealand, encompassing every aspect of capital markets, from educating new investors to encouraging new listings. Technology was one of the biggest challenges and the pace of technological change was relentless, yet trading volume always increased and NZX were constantly seeking to improve corporate governance and develop new competitive opportunities. The centerpiece of this business transformation initiative was a decision to upgrade NZX's core business systems to Oracle Database 10g and consolidate a number of disparate platforms into a single, scalable, high-performance database environment.
