This paper describes the implementation and design of a replication solution for the IBM DB2 Universal Database Version 8.1.5 (FixPak 5) product (DB2 UDB), running on the Solaris 9 platform. The replication solution uses VERITAS Storage Foundation for DB2 and VERITAS Volume Replicator, an option for Storage Foundation for DB2. Guidance and best practices are provided for replication and off-host processing using DB2 UDB. Practical considerations regarding design and implementation with VERITAS Volume Replicator 4.0 are discussed later in the document.
