This briefing paper demonstrates a Web-based process for Branch Profitability planning by Branch Managers within a retail or commercial channel using the Cognos planning platform. By capturing plans in the field, the bank allows for top-level target assumptions to be validated at those branches responsible for delivering on expectations. By capturing volume and spread information across loan and deposit products, the branches can be held accountable for their numbers. The models and processes described in this paper provide a vision of Branch Profitability planning that can be configured and enhanced to support any size of bank, whatever the complexity.
