To deliver triple-play services bandwidth rates need to be increased beyond levels normally associated with high-speed Internet access. These rate increases can cause lines to become more sensitive to noise impairments and can increase the number of customer complaints and associated costs. Dynamic line management (DLM) is a profile-management technique aimed at maximizing data rates, while respecting quality of service levels. Consequently, a lower percentage of lines exhibit instability.
